In this module, we have addressed what it means to say that we “know” something. Make sure to read the module overview and assigned reading before submitting your initial post.
For your initial post, address the following: Taking into account what we have read about our knowledge of the world around us, can you say that you know the world around you? Is “knowing” the world around you the same as “knowing” arithmetical and mathematical truths? Do we know them in the same way? Or are different processes at work in statements about the world and arithmetical statements such as 2 + 2 = 4? Is the word “know” used in the same way in empirical statements, such as “I know the sun will rise tomorrow,” and 2 + 2 = 4?
For your response posts, remember that strong critical thinking is essential in responding to other students. This means that you should be finding things that support or extend your classmates’ thoughts or that you take critical issue with in their arguments and positions. When possible, providing alternatives to another person’s arguments or positions is part of the task of a critical thinker.
These are two different small short answers. The job is to create an initial post and then respond to the document below.
