You are a highly motivated intern at USAID who has been tasked with giving a briefing to your team on a particular UN Sustainable Development Goal. Step 1: Review the UN UN Sustainable Development Goals website http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/ and report. Step 2: Choose one of the Sustainable Development goals that most interests you. Step 3: Give a brief summary of the goal. Step 4: Research the current status of that goal using the UN website, scholarly journals, and other IGO/NGO sources of reference. This is my final thesis for my Masters program “Global affairs and Islamic studies”. I have chosen the topic of women empowerment and wrote abstract, literature review (not complete) and introduction. This is my title “An investigation into the effect of Qatar based influencers on women empowerment amongst the youth in the Gulf region” although it could be changed or shortened. I need help to edit my literature review and add more to it. My study is exploratory so many subtopics can be mentioned if aligned with the thesis topic. BOOK REVIEW ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW Like the Issue Analysis Paper, the Book Review is a tool to assist you in honing your analytical and writing skills as you interact with international law and policy. This week you will consider the concepts, ideas, and themes in a book written on the dawn of a new century. Like the Issue Analysis Paper, please consider major groups involved in the policies and ideas presented, laws and/or policies that came into being as a result of this book, the benefits or challenges of involvement by international organizations, and how a biblical worldview can be applied to understanding the outcome of the issue. The critical analysis and application you apply to this paper will be vital experience as you prepare to write your final briefing paper. INSTRUCTIONS You will write a book review on Our Global Neighborhood by the Commission on Global Governance. Your Book Review must include 3 sections: Summary, Critique and Application. Your summary must recap the main theme of the book and answer the following questions: What is the overall perspective, purpose, or argument of the book? If the author wanted you to get one idea from the book, what would it be? Your critique must present your evaluation of the book’s strengths and weaknesses. You can offer agreement or disagreement and identify where you find the work exemplary or deficient in its knowledge, judgments, or organization. Provide concrete evidence for your assertions. Support judgments with references from the textbook reading in this course. Be sure that your evaluation is balanced, respectful, and fair. Control the tone of your critique. Your critique must answer the following questions: What is noteworthy? What has the book accomplished? In what ways is the book effective or persuasive? Challenge assumptions, approaches, or arguments made by the author. Does the argument make sense? Your application must demonstrate how the book has enhanced your understanding of current public policy issues. You will briefly assess a current public policy issue in current events considering the economic theories presented in this material. Identify an International Company that is expanding their business in an international market. These companies will be identified from watching the BBC News (Channel 100), Bloomberg (Channel 33), or reading the New York Times, Washington Post, or the Financial Times or other international papers/magazines which provides daily information on businesses that are growing internationally. You are an employee of an NGO interested in encouraging state compliance with international norms. Your supervisor has asked you to produce a white paper in which you discuss at least three strategies that IGOs, states and/or other NGOs use for enforcement of international law.
